I remember the tie dye parties I had as a kid – they were so much fun with squeals of delight, bright colors, and the resulting cool things we made. Your child, regardless of their age, will love a Tie Dye Birthday Party!
For a creative invitation, try cutting bright tissue paper into strips. Paste the tissue paper into swirly designs onto white cardstock for a faux tie-dye look. You can also purchase really groovy invitations, as well as super colorful party supplies that are the epitome of the tie dye theme.
The number one activity of the day will be the actual tie dying!! And don’t limit it to t-shirts. You can dye cards, pillowcases, cloth napkins, or hats. The Tie Dye Kits never have enough gloves, so be sure to snag some extras from the drug store. While waiting for everything to dry, the kids will love participating in other “retro” style games like tag, making friendship bracelets, climbing trees, or painting faces. Sending the kids home with their works of art and a party favor box will have them bragging to everyone.
Keep the food simple and reminiscent of the tie dye generation with punch, mini veggie burgers topped with sprouts, tomatoes, and mayonnaise, yogurt swirled with fruit puree (for a tie dye look!), and mini vegetables with ranch dip. It IS as yummy as it all sounds!
A Tie Dye Birthday Party is a fantastically fun celebration idea!
