Naturally, Ariel and her friends on the Little Mermaid have captured the hearts of young girls for years. We all pretended, at some point, to be mermaids in an underwater world of fantasy every time we swam. A Little Mermaid Birthday Party is a wonderful motif that your child will love.
Hosting your celebration at a pool or beach will certainly set the tone, but if not, you can always set up kiddie pools or slip and slides to promote the water theme. For your invitation, print out an image of the Little Mermaid on white cardstock and decorate with stickers or stamps of fish, seaweed, waves, and other underwater life. There are colorful pre-made invitations that can be used instead, if so desired.
We all know how Ariel was fascinated with “human things,” so set up a treasure hunt for a random assortment of trinkets like forks, books, toys, and jewelry. Buy the Little Mermaid Soundtrack to play for games like “Underwater Limbo” (if in the pool), regular “Limbo” if on land, or “Dance Freeze” where the guests dance like crazy until the music stops and then they freeze in place. Be sure to send the little fish’s home with their own Little Mermaid party favors such as stickers or pearl necklaces.
Serve up a dish like Pasta Salad made with “Shell” noodles (one of my fave ways involves adding chopped veggies like red bell pepper, carrots, and green onions and tossing with a bit of mozzarella cheese, olive oil, and white wine vinegar). Other victuals can include fish-shaped sandwiches, goldfish crackers, and tropical fruits like pineapple and kiwi.
A Little Mermaid Birthday Party is sure to excite your child and her guests so have a swimmingly good time!
