Basketball season is officially here and if your kids follow the bouncing, dribbling, basket-making action, then they will surely be eager for a Basketball Birthday Party! So, put your game face on to make a kickin’ birthday event!
Your Basketball invitations can be made quite easily by decorating and cutting orange cardstock to look like a basketball. Write, “You’ll have a ball at ….” and be sure to include all the proper party details. If you don’t want to make your invites, you can order some pretty cool ones along with your other party supplies like tableware, streamers, or tablecloth.
As your guests arrive, have them autograph the “game ball” for the birthday star. The on to more games and activities!
- Training Camp – Get a collection of basketballs and have the children practice dribbling around cones, shooting balls into nets, passing back and forth, crunches, jumping jacks, etc
- Pennant Design – cut construction paper into long triangular shapes. Let the kids decorate their team pennants with crayons, markers, stickers, glitter, and the like. Cover with clear contact paper or laminate to make permanent.
- H-O-R-S-E – A player starts the game by shooting the ball. If he makes the shot, then the other players have to shoot from that same spot. If they miss, then they get an “H”. Then the next person shoots. The kid who makes the shot can then take another shot from anywhere and the process begins again. Those who spell out “HORSE” are out.
There are some cool Basketball party favor boxes filled with goodies like a bounce ball, basketball clapper, and basketball whistle that will delight the party goers.
Serve up yummy stuff that you would get at the game: hot dogs, nachos, fries, popcorn, and soft pretzels. Also, decorate your themed cake with tiny realistic ball players! FUN!
With these tips, your Basketball Birthday Party will be a slam dunk!
