Tips for Hiring Party Entertainment

The perfect complement to a party can be finding just the right entertainment. A professional entertainer can give your event the right atmosphere and allow your guests to enjoy it even more. Whether you are hiring a piano player for an adult soiree or a magician for a children’s party, the basics of hiring entertainment is the same. Here are some tips for hiring the best and making your party a success.

The best place to find party entertainment is always from the recommendations of friends and family. Perhaps you attended a party that had a great band. Ask the host for their contact information and how the experience was.

If you are on a budget, contact the music department of a local university or college. They may have musicians that are willing to perform much more inexpensively than a professional group. They will benefit from gaining the experience and you will benefit from the lower price tag.

Try to fit the entertainment with the theme of party. If you are having a Magic birthday party, then hire a Magician. A Clown would work perfectly with a circus party. Keep in mind that some young guests may be afraid of clowns and a balloon artist may be a better choice.

You always want to check references. Contact the Better Business Bureau to see if any complaints have been lodged. See if it is possible to watch them perform at another event before hiring them.

A signed contract is always a good idea as well. Agree upon compensation before hand and a payment schedule. Ensure that there is a clause in the contract in case the entertainer is a no show or their performance does not live up to expectations. You will want some sort of recourse in case something goes wrong.

These tips should help to ensure that hiring entertainment for your birthday party or event will be a success. Remember to take some time during the party to enjoy the show as well.
