Cinco de Mayo PartyMay 5th is also known as Cinco de Mayo in Spanish.  Celebrated as a minor holiday in Mexico, it marks the day the Mexican Army defeated the French Army in the Battle of Puebla.  The day is celebrated more in the United States and other countries rather than Mexico though.  Show your appreciation for Mexican culture with these Cinco de Mayo party ideas.

  • Teach your children some Spanish.  Give a small language lesson today.  Check out this Spanish Numbers for Kids lesson along with audio on how to pronounce them correctly.
  • Make a Cinco de Mayo craft.  Help your children make their own maracas using dried beans, empty toliet paper tubes, markers, construction paper, and tape.  Tape over one end of the toliet paper tube, place some beans inside and tape over the other end.    Decorate with construction paper and markers.
  • Enjoy some Mexican food.  Have Tacos, Burritos, or Quesadillas for dinner today.  They are fun to make and your children are sure to love them.  Do a search for Taco Recipes if you need some inspiration.

Celebrate Cinco de Mayo with your kids with these ideas and they are sure to have a wonderful time.  What are your favorite ways to celebrate the day?
