May 5th is also known as Cinco de Mayo in Spanish. Celebrated as a minor holiday in Mexico, it marks the day the Mexican Army defeated the French Army in the Battle of Puebla. The day is celebrated more in the United States and other countries rather than Mexico though. Show your appreciation for Mexican culture with these Cinco de Mayo party ideas.

- Make a Cinco de Mayo craft. Help your children make their own maracas using dried beans, empty toliet paper tubes, markers, construction paper, and tape. Tape over one end of the toliet paper tube, place some beans inside and tape over the other end. Decorate with construction paper and markers.
