I get emails all the time asking about discontinued party themes and if I might have any available. Often I do not, so it is time to get creative in figuring out just how to host the themed birthday party that your child is requesting.
For my daughter’s second birthday party we went through something very similar. My daughter is an absolutely huge Maisy fan. Maisy is not a very well known character in the United States but does have a large following in Great Britain. Maisy is a mouse that goes on adventures with her friends Charlie, Eddie, Tallulah and Cyril. She can be found in numerous books and a television show.
I thought it would be no problem to find items to make a great party for my daughter. I’m a party planner after all. Boy was I ever wrong. No one was making Maisy party supplies anymore. I couldn’t even find a company in England to order them from. My first stop whenever I cannot find a theme party is to look to Ebay. Ebay often has everything. I lucked out and found a seller that had listed Maisy invitations, table cloths, hats, and blowouts. I purchased them right away, as I didn’t want to miss the opportunity.
I then purchased solid colored plates and table ware to match. I also got some crepe paper and balloons to decorate with. Maisy is big on primary colors so it was very easy.
For a centerpiece I went to Amazon. Maisy has a pop up barn playhouse that appears to be a book, but when opened is a three-dimensional paper dollhouse. Complete with a cut-out Maisy, Cyril, Charlie, and Tallulah this not only was a great decoration, but has provided my daughter with hours of enjoyment. I also ordered Maisy paperback books
as party favors for all of the children.
Finally I went to our local bakery with a color copy of Maisy from one of her books. The baker was able to make a chocolate Maisy to match and used it to decorate her chocolate birthday cake with.
The party was an absolute success and my daughter loved seeing all of her favorite characters. With a little bit of creativity, you too can host a great party with a discontinued theme.
I am looking for Maisy party items. Do you mind telling me where you got all your party supplies please? Thank you so very much! Sherry Curran
