If your child loves to play in the sandbox or spends hours building with blocks, chances are they will love to have a construction birthday party. This party will appeal to both boys and girls and the inner builder inside of us all.
Purchase some yellow construction tape from your local hardware store and use that to decorate with instead of crepe paper. Make invitations out of orange construction paper cut into the shape of construction cones. The dress code on the invitation should read jeans, t-shirts, and work boots. Decorate with orange, yellow and black balloons. Create Road Work Ahead, Men Working, and Women Working signs out of construction paper or paperboard. This is a great way to get the birthday girl or boy involved in planning their party. Bob the Builder would be an excellent theme to use for this party.
To keep the party guest busy get out building blocks, legos, Lincoln logs and erector sets. Have a contest for the most unusual, most creative, most likely to fall over, etc. Bake cookies in the shape of stoplights or stop signs and let your guests decorate them.
To keep the food within the construction theme have a construct your own bagel pizza making station. Let your guests add sauce, cheese, pepperoni, and vegetables to the top of a bagel half. Place them all on a cookie sheet and bake until the cheese is melted. Make brownies and put them in the back of a toy dump truck.
The favors for this party can be construction themed too. Create tool belts or tool boxes for your guests to take home and fill them with mini plastic tools and candy.
The above idea will help you throw a successful and fun construction birthday party. Have a great time building this event.
