Winter is starting to arrive and the chilly weather can mean that one thing is not far behind. Snow! Children love to play in the snow, catch snowflakes, make snow angels and build snowmen. Use the season to your advantage and plan a Snowman Making Party.
It may be difficult to plan ahead for this type of party, as weather forecasting can be an inexact science at times. A good idea is to have all of the party supplies on hand beforehand in order to thrown an impromptu party on a snow day or a weekend with lots of snow available.
The most important thing to have on hand is snowman parts. Fill a box with old hats, mittens, coal (charcoal barbecue briquettes work great), buttons and long sticks. Keep some long carrots stocked in your fridge to make the perfect snowman nose.
It is good to plan on keeping some prizes and favors around to give out for the tallest snowman, most creative snowman, littlest snowman, best team effort, etc. The key is to have prizes for everyone and getting creative with the awards. Most likely everyone will build a great snowman and appreciate the recognition.
While everyone is busy making snowmen bake a snowman cake that will be nice and warm when everyone gets finished. Hot cocoa for everyone will be helpful in getting everyone warmed up from being outside. Serve everything on cute penguin winter plates and cups.
Get the word out about your snowman making party by making phone calls or knocking on doors. You are sure to have a great turnout as everyone is probably trying to figure out what to do inside. Help them beat cabin fever as everyone gets outside to build snowmen. Your guests will also be impressed that you were able to pull together a party so easily.
