Halloween is drawing near, but there is still time to pull together a Pumpkin Carving Party before Friday night’s trick or treating. A jack-o-lantern is a necessary element for any house to let costumed ghosts and princesses know they are welcome to knock and ask for candy. Turn the event of carving into a fun party tradition that people will look forward to every year.
The necessary requirements are some tables covered in plastic or newspaper, carving tools, bags to place pumpkin seeds in (for roasting later), and trash bags for waste. Invite everyone over and tell them it is a BYOP event. Bring Your Own Pumpkin. Optional is an oven, oil and seasonings to roast the pumpkin seeds.
Food and snacks can be simple super, especially since you will probably be carving your own pumpkin and will not want to be stuck in the kitchen. Order a pizza or a party tray of sub sandwiches, have some potato chips and dip, bottles of soda pop, pumpkin pie and you are good to go.
Have fun with it and let everyone judge the finished carved pumpkins. Hand out awards for scariest, most creative, and most traditional jack-o-lantern. Have everyone bring copies of their favorite recipe for roasting pumpkin seeds.
Enjoy your pumpkin carving party and start a new Halloween tradition.
