The Summer Olympics have once again brought about a huge interest in gymnastics. This highly competitive and athletic sport is always a whole bunch of fun. It is no wonder that many children are hoping to have a gymnastics party for their next birthday.
There are many ways that you can throw a great gymnastics birthday party. One way is to find a local gymnastics studio and see if they offer birthday party packages. They may offer the use of a party room, an instructor to guide the kids through tumbling and balance beam activities, and all of the set-up and clean up for you.
If you would prefer to host the party at your own home, then it may take some creativity but you will be able to throw a great gymnastics birthday party. Brainstorm with your child the various events that take place in a gymnastics competition. Balance Beam, Uneven/Parallel Bars, and Tumbling are some of the ideas.
Using items from your own home, you may be able to set up various areas in order for the kids to try out different activities. A long board can act as a balance beam. A play mat can be a place to try somersaults and handstands. Make sure that you have plenty of adult supervision to provide spotters so that no one gets hurt.
Award everyone an award in a medal ceremony, complete with flag and national anthem. Or hand out personalized trophies to each child. Red, white and blue would be great choices for the color scheme or you could use your child’s favorite colors.
Theme the food around gymnastic events. You could offer pommel horse hot dogs, uneven bar breadsticks, and gold medal cookies.
Have a great gymnastics birthday party and remember to get up and move!
