If your son or daughter is a big fan of arts and crafts, then you may want to consider having a craft birthday party
for their next birthday party. The possibilities are endless. This is a great party theme to keep kids entertained and involved in the action.
Start with handmade invitations to create the right mood for the party. They can be simple stencils or hand stamped invitations. Look for scissors, paint, and paint brush stickers to embellish them. Let you child help make them. Make sure you tell people to bring an art smock or large shirt they can wear over their clothes and that they may get messy creating.
You will want to plan on doing at least three small crafts during the party. Set up each craft at its own table. It will be easier to help the children work on their crafts in small groups rather than all at once. It would be ideal if you could have an adult at each table to help out. You may want to cover surfaces under and around the table with plastic or newspaper in order to contain any messes.
Ideas for crafts could be a painting project, such as a birdhouse or clay pot. They could also make a foam door hanger, stamp a t-shirt or pillowcase, or create an object d’art from clay or beeswax.
You can continue the create-your-own theme with the food as well. Allow the children to top their own bagel pizzas. Have cupcakes or cookies that they can decorate on their own.
Make sure you have bags for each child to take their creations home in. The best part of a craft birthday party is that the crafts can be the party favor. Have fun and get creative!
