Who would ever have thought this cute little character, which started as an image on a vinyl coin purse, would have been so popular with young girls when it made its debut back in the 1970s! Now, it is still all the rage, making for the perfect Hello Kitty birthday party!
There are tons of adorable Hello Kitty images you can find online to print into invitation shapes, as well as a huge array of stickers and stamps to decorate with. Quite simply, cut out the Hello Kitty Shape, color the front, and write out the party details on the back. There are also some fabulous pre-made invitations that would be just as charming.
When it comes to Hello Kitty cuisine, think petite, sweet, and delectable… like tea sandwiches cut into flowers, Pink Macaroni & Cheese (just add a bit of pink or red food dye), Giant Pink Swirl Lollipops, and an assortment of pink/red fruits (strawberries, raspberries, watermelon, and Pink Lady apple slices…mmmm…).
And what will your sweet guests do to amuse themselves? You can start with Hello Kitty coloring sheets (again, there is a whole variety of them online that you can print), but feel free to add in a fun game like Cat & Mouse. Two or more players get to act as “cats” while everyone else is a “mouse.” The cats tag the mice and place them in the mousetrap (a pre-designated area). Other mice can save the trapped mice, keeping the game going for a while! You can also play a rousing game of “Kitty Says” (just like Simon Says)! Before the kids are sent home, fill their hands with Hello Kitty party favors like stickers, a Hello Kitty ring, lip gloss, or Heart-shaped sunglasses!
Hello Kitty has come a long way since those days in the 70s, but she still brings out the charm in our own little ki-tt-ies. Have fun with your Hello Kitty Birthday Party!
