Happy St. Patrick’s Day! Even if you are not Irish, you are most likely wearing green today to celebrate. We have some last minute suggestions for St. Patrick’s Day activities that you can do with your children.
Make some Irish Soda bread. This traditional raisin bread is made with ingredients you most likely have in your pantry. If you do not have buttermilk, you can make some by adding 1 tablespoon of vinegar to 1 cup of milk and let sit for 5 minutes before adding to the rest of the ingredients. This bread only takes about 15 minutes to assemble.
While it is baking help your children cut some shamrocks out of green construction paper. The easiest method is to cut out heart shapes and long curved stems. The hearts are the leaves and you will glue them onto the stems. Add some glitter with glue to really make them shine.
Making sugar cookies is another fun (and tasty!) activity for St. Patrick’s Day. Here in the Partyelf household we always reach for our tried and true recipe for Martha Stewart’s Sugar Cookies. Even if you do not have a shamrock cookie cutter, you can use a round cutter. Decorate with green tinted icing and enjoy.
Have a wonderful St. Patrick’s Day with your family!
