Hosting a Luau for Tweens and Teens is a great birthday party or get together party idea. To help you with your party planning we have created the Complete Guide to Throwing a Luau for Tweens and Teens. Come along to the tropical isles for a Luau celebration! We are going to cover everything from Luau party invitations options, a luau menu, luau party games, and the perfect luau party favors for teens and tweens.
First up is inviting your guests to the party. There are a number of options. Your first option is buy some preprinted Luau party invitations that you fill in the blanks on. We love the Message in a Bottle invitations that are really unique. Or you can go the personalized Luau party invitations route with these highly customizable ones from Tiny Prints. Or you can create your own party invitations. This is your chance to get creative. Get some beach balls, inflate them, write the party details on them with a permanent marker, let the air out and place in an envelope. Make some palm trees on an island from cardstock and write the details on those.
Next up is planning a Luau menu perfect for tweens and teens. Draw your inspiration from the tropics. Get some tropical fruit such as mangos, pineapples, star fruit and bananas and make up some fruit kebobs. Serve some Hawaiian pizza topped with ham and pineapples. Make sure to get some other varieties in case your guests are not that adventurous. Serve up some non-alcoholic pina coladas and fruit smoothies in coconut cups or palm tree cups. Make up some coconut topped cupcakes for dessert.
A Tween and Teen luau is not complete with some fun party games. An absolute must have is the limbo! Just how low can you go? Buy a limbo kit that has everything that you need including a music CD to set the mood. Next up is Coconut Relay. Buy some whole coconuts from the grocery store, divide everyone up into teams and then do a relay race where the teams must pass the coconut on to each other. For an added challenge, crack the coconuts first and let each team use the coconut as a bowl. They must dip it into a bucket of water on one end and race to the other end to fill up an empty bucket. Pineapple bowling is always a hit too. Get some real pineapples, set up in a bowling pin fashion and then try to knock them down with a rolling coconut. Finish up with a luau pinata.
Send your luau party guests home with some party favors. The must for every luau is a flower lei. In fact this should be given to every guest as they enter the party. If you really want to set the perfect mood for the party then get everyone a grass skirt too. You can also create your own luau party favors to send home with each guest.
You can also find a great selection of luau party supplies in our Summer and Luau Party section. There are a number of great themes to choose from for all of your party plates, cups, napkins, and more.
