You don’t need the luck of the Irish to host a fun St. Patrick’s Day Party. A little creative imagination, easy-to-setup supplies, and a bit o’ green is all you need for a fantastically fun time.
To make a cute invitation, cut out a large three-leaf clover out of gold (or silver) paper (check the scrapbook paper section at your craft store). Then, using green paper, cut out a clover about 1/2″ smaller and paste on top of the gold one. Use a gold (or silver) glitter marker to write your party details on the green clover. Be sure to remind your guests to dress in something green. Snap up some colorful party supplies and you are ready for the guests to come in their finest greenery!
The party goers will love games and activities like:
– Hunt for the Pot o’ Gold – hide a pot of golden chocolate coins and write clues on green paper clovers. Let the hunt begin!
– Printable St. Patrick’s Day games – great for all ages, these print right off your computer, providing easy entertainment
– Heave Ho – this Gaelic inspired game involves a brown bag stuffed with newspaper and a length of rope about 5 feet off the ground. Using a spatula, see who can pitch the bag over the rope the most times out of ten
– Musical Shammrocks – played just like musical chairs
You can really let your imagination go wild when it comes to the menu. Serve up sandwiches cut into clover shapes, green salad (lettuce, green bell peppers, cucumbers, and add some green food coloring to your salad dressing), green fruits (kiwi, green apple, pears, and green grapes) with cheese, and, of course, green-frosted cupcakes. You could also offer traditional Irish foods like Irish Soda Bread or Corned Beef & Cabbage.
