There’s no reason why adults can’t celebrate with their own Halloween Costume party, especially if it is thrown with a classy edge to it.
For your invitations, head to the craft store and pick up some black and white cardstock, a spider stamp, and spider web paper punch. Cut the black card stock into rectangles and, using your fancy tool, punch spider webs all along the four edges. Cut your white card stock about ½ smaller on each side and paste to your black card stock so the spider webs are visible on all sides. Stamp an image of a spider on one side and write your party details in the center with a black glitter marker (remember Halloween is on a Saturday, so plan accordingly). There are some fun Halloween party invitations you can buy, as well. And don’t forget to remind your guests to arrive in costume!
Your party locale needs to be dim, smoky, and spooky! Embellish your surroundings with as many candles as you can safely squeeze in, adding in some fall leaves, gourds, and pumpkins for ambiance. Create your own floating ghosts out of starched cheesecloth and hang black spiders, cut from heavy cardstock, from the ceiling. Stretch spider webs across furniture, windows, and where ever else you need to add an eerie feel.
Keep your menu focused on fall related items, things that would be served at a fabulous mansion … that might be haunted, perhaps? Offer an autumn cocktail before serving pumpkin soup, roasted pork tenderloin with an apple stuffing, green bean salad, and sugared pears.
Have prizes for your silliest, scariest, coolest, most adorable (…etc) costumes, but most of all, have a Spook-tacular time at your Adult Halloween Costume Party!
