Mother’s Day is this coming Sunday and now is the time to finish your Mother’s Day party plans. Mom’s love receiving handmade crafts from their children. We have some great ideas that will be easy for your kids to make and Mom will love.
- Popsicle Picture Frames. For this craft you will need popsicle sticks, glue, paint, photo safe tape, and a favorite picture or mini piece of artwork. Start off by painting the popsicle sticks with either water colors or poster paint. Give them time to dry completely before continuing. Cut a piece of paper into a 4″ by 6″ rectangle to use as a template. Glue the popsicle sticks together to match the template and allow to dry. Once finished use the photo safe tape to glue the picture onto the frame. Feel free to also embellish with stickers, glitter, and beads.
- Pipe Cleaner Flowers. This craft needs pipe cleaners, foam craft sheets, flower foam, and your favorite adhesive. Cut the foam craft sheets into the shapes of Mom’s favorite flowers. Bend the pipe cleaners to match the shape of the foam flowers. Using an adhesive (a hot glue gun may work best – a grown-up should do this part), glue the pipe cleaner to the foam flower. Create a stem with leaves with another piece of pipe cleaner. Make at least three flowers in this way to create a bouquet. Place the stems into the flower foam if you would like them to stand up. Place into a clay pot. Which leads to the next craft.
- Painted Clay Pots. Clay pots are very inexpensive and can be found at most nurseries and stores with a gardening section. Let your child paint the pot with tempura or poster paint. Allow to dry and either fill with dirt and a real flower plant or the pipe cleaner flowers from above.
Have fun creating Mother’s Day presents with your children. These also make great gifts for Grandma’s too. Don’t forget to make a handmade card to go with it. Construction paper, crayons, markers, and creativity are all that is required.
